![]() Although it's not as a holy shit moment since we've already seen it in DC - it still is a spectacle to be hold and in 60 fps too. Now I know there are lots of negatives but there is a lot to like as well: I don't get the sponsor system, the showdowns are a mess (I have no idea which ones I completed) and halfway through the campaign it gets boring. The rivalry between Troy and Nolan's characters is only amusing because it mirrors what happens in real life. Lastly - the career structure: The podcast thing is super annoying and is an instant skip even though I like Donut media's Youtube page. The throttle implementation for the triggers is actually pretty decent. Dear me did I hate those - they lack much nuance and it was like holding an electric razor most of the time. The car selection isn't necessarily a bad one but there are some weird omissions: No Audi Quattro, Lanica Integrale, any Toyota, EVO 9, Hawkeye, StinkEye, and more weird omissions in a series that used to fly the Colin Mcrae name. Now this is probably due to the fact they wanted every track to accommodate all classes and work in reverse, but the downside is every track is super wide and well. I have a theory that they're mostly using DC's AI tech which kinda worked on tracks but not rally-ish stages. they also sometimes just follow each other single file and have that weird AI brake flickering behavior which looks odd. I play on very hard and one in like 6-7 events do I get AI that can actually keep up. I also can't get the Multiplayer to work I am always greeted with a can't connect to server error and no my internet is fine. ![]() ![]() Game music comes on when I am not on the throttle, the engine sounds spike every now and then. Now let's get the bad out of the way first: This maybe a long read so TL DR in advance: while I have no extreme feelings falling in either the positive or negative directions - overall - I am disappointing. It also just so happens that DiRT 2 and DRIVECLUB are amongst my top 10 racers. Though my preference is always towards the sim side of things - I enjoy arcade racers as well. Bit of context: I'm a former freelance writer for IGN ME and GTPlanet - I am also a GTAcademy finalist. With the recent sale on the PSN - I figured it was time to pull the trigger on DIRT (apparently not DiRT) 5.
